In Person
Health Coaching involves modifying unhealthy behaviors and replacing them with healthy ones. Health coaching entails looking at the whole person and making improvements that help them reach their health and fitness goals, while improving well-being. Coach Webb has developed a “Pyramid of Health”, in which each aspect of a person’s physical health is considered (pictured below). In the foundation, you’ll see things like self-esteem, sleep and recovery, and stress management. These elements of a person’s well-being effect everything above them. Next, you’ll see nutrition. These two steps are by far the most important. Without these, results above them will not be optimized. The following levels include NEAT (non-exercise activity thermogenesis) and exercise. These levels are affected by the two below and also effect the layers below. Lastly, you’ll see supplementation. Supplements have the least effect of all and the vast majority of them are useless if everything below isn’t addressed. However, there are some good supplements out there that have been tested and continually shown to be beneficial with little-to-no side effects. For that reason, it is included on the Pyramid of Health, but the least important for most people.

Nutrition coaching is similar to health coaching (and is often included in health coaching). However, nutrition coaching only addresses the nutritional aspect of health and fitness. This is primarily reserved for athletes who are trying to get the most out of their training. By optimizing nutritional intake, they are able to fuel workouts and competition and/or control weight fluctuations (especially important for weight-controlled sports). However, some clients are just looking for that missing piece. Nutrition coaching may be for them.
